The Wire: The Complete Series

I've heard many great things about HBO's The Wire, but haven't taken the time to experience it for myself... yet. Amazon is running all 5 seasons (60 episodes) for 90 bones. Yeah, that's like $160 off the sticker price. With 4 more weeks to LOST's return, now just might the the perfect time for me to dive in to a new show.

DO IT!!!! At the very least it will force me to stop pushing the show on you.

The Wire killed Lost for me. Lost seemed wonderful, but The Wire showed me just how lacking most TV shows are right now. Watch it: you'll be blown away.

I'm on Season 4 right now, and my love for the show hasn't flagged. Be warned, though: the show starts in media res, so you might find the first few episodes slow or confusing the first watch around.

@Rory – The Fourth season is (in my opinion) the best one, hands down. I have never felt for any TV character the way I did for the school kids of 4.

As others have said, do it, do it now. You will not be disappointed. I'm only into Season 3, and I still think it's one of the best ongoing drama shows I've ever seen.

I don't know that it'll ruin Lost for you, but it raises the bar in general and will make virtually all other cop/crime-related dramas look like weak-sauce.

@ Nick H.

I have to agree that the fourth season is the best one. The rise of Malo Stansfield, Michael becoming a man and growing up quickly. Prez' transition from cop to teacher were some of season 4's highlights for me.
