PureVolume.com gets all fresh

A big hats off to our comrades who have been slaving away on the new purevolume.com. It's wider, sexier and less orange than ever before. Tyson headed up the design this time around and did a wonderful job. Be sure to check out the Video and New Albums pages. Money.

I love the new design especially the albums catogorized to the right with their respective store front links.

It's funny. We were just talking about the redesign of purevolume.com here at work. We follow the site closely to help recruit indies and other artists. Really great job with the new version.

Not to be rude, but why fix it if it ain't broke? All this did was make things much too big. I liked the previous version much more.

And also, why ditch the orange? That shade of orange was "PV orange" to me. I don't know, but I'm sure not a fan of this redesign.

I've been waiting for this for a long time. I didn't like the old site much. It reminded me of old Flash sites. This site is beautiful. I will spend much more time at pv now.

Never really spent much time on Pure Volume and I'm probably not going to start now. However, the new design is looking pretty cool.

Nice work on the the redesign – but geez, how many comrades do you have? A new PureVolume with a new VIRB on teh way at the same time? Nice!

@JK – The reason for fixing something that aint broken is to keep the user's attention. Site's get boring after a while and whether the site is great or not, it gets updated.

As for the orange, I think there is a "played out" issue where its become too commonly used. Thats just my view on the whole thing.

Grant: Not that many. We have 5 on the Virb team and I think 10 or so on the PV team.

20 Feb 08 at 2:53pm

@Ryan – Damn you only have 5 people with Virb? Are you all pulling 18 hour shifts?

That's hot.

(Imagine me saying that like quote Paris Hilton. )

I was a fan of the previous design, too.

Adam B: We like to keep our development teams small. :)

Small is the new big. @Adam B: 18 hour shifts? Getting warmer.

Love it, especially the new blue. What was the overhaul in the site's technology?

MAD props. I love it! The new album player is really swell. They did a great job of refreshing your original design Ryan.

I'd be interested to know what took place under the hood. Also, what's the font used in the top nav and the headlines? I've always admired it.

@Matt Radel – I believe its Arial. :)

No, I'm referring to the flash replaced text (though maybe its not replacing correctly for you) directly underneath the main banner and the headers for "featured media", "pure promos", etc. that are all background images. I might just bust out WhatTheFont if I have time… ;)
