NYC: The Aftermath

I spoke at FOWD last week with the indefatigable DKR. Got to meet a lot of fine folks and enjoy The City (even if its new logo induces maniacal rage). People said we did a good job. I was nervous as hell. As part of our preso, Danger and I threw together a mockup for IMDb as a proof of concept:
IMDb Front Page
Movie Profile Page

I'll put up the entire keynote slide deck soon if anyone wants to check it out.

So good to hear you guys speak Ryan. I thought you did a stellar job in the presentation and execution of the talk + the visuals are a treat: just imagine if you had a bit more time to craft it. Nice work.

That mockup is amazing. I look forward to seeing the slides.

Excellent choice of movies to showcase by the way. Control, The Royal Tenenbaums, No Country For Old Men… Very nice.

Fantastic work. I love the all-caps black type in the navigation tabs. What typeface is that?

I am sorry I missed your presentation along with the others at FOWD. Thanks for posting the mock-ups of a better potentially functional IMDb and yes please post slides from your presentation.

I totally missed the presentation. I was bummed but I had to leave @ 5.30 to catch the train back to Jersey and study for an exam. Those IMDB mockups look tasty.

I was at FOWD and your presentation with Keith was one of my favorites of the day. Your subject matter was very informative and I came away with a ton of notes.

I think you said at the start of the presentation you were nervous, but I really couldn't tell. Maybe that's because I was feverishly taking notes and didn't have many spare brain cycles to analyze it.

I can't wait until they publish the video so I can re-watch it.

Your IMDb page makes me sad that the actual site doesn't look that way already.

Totally dig the IMDB makeover!!! Now on the NYC logo… well, maybe it will grow on me later but I agree, totally "unawesome" :S

I'm looking forward to your keynote slides!

If IMDb turned into that amazing piece of work, I would love going to IMDb to waste time more than I already do!

Thank you everyone for all of your kind words. They are very flattering. I'm glad most of you liked it.

@Rob Goodlatte: The font is Proxima Nova by Mark Simonson. I use it quite a bit but really liked it here because it looks so good at such a small size.

Nice work! I wish I was there.

Looking foward to seeing the Design Eye pres. at SXSW!

The imdb mock ups are excellent. That would make imdb.com alot easier to use and look at.

For those who mentioned the slide deck – I'm not sure, but I think the folks at Carsonified are posting it. Regardless we'll try and get it up somehow. I'll have a few example docs up over at the Blue Flavor blog tomorrow (most likely.)

While I wait 3 weeks to see those videos, can I get some sort of summary about what was talked about during that last segment @ FOWD?

It was great to meet finally meet you. Bang up job on the presentation, too.

Also, thanks for the heads up on Proxima Nova. I've seen it used on Virbland's headings and have been jonesing for it … just picked up a copy.

Cheers!

Top Job! Looking forward to seeing the Videos from FOWD and your slides. The IMDb mock ups are fantastic! I wish the current site was even half as aesthetically pleasing! Again, cheers for the heads up on Proxima Nova, I've been admiring it in VIRB for a while so I think I'll have to splash out for a copy myself.

I really enjoyed the presentation, and I have to say it was cool to see someone getting applause for a design the way you did. I've recently started back into the web design field so it was very cool to see peers appreciating your work. Looking forward to the slides!
