Nike+ SportBand

Natalie, my "running" Nano, is on her last leg. She's becoming quite moody and refuses to speak when I need her most. With warmer weather around the corner, outdoor running season isn't too far behind. Yet, I didn't want to purchase a shiny, new Nano ONLY to track my runs for Nike+.

Enter the Nike+ SportBand. This bad boy circumvents the iPod completely. With the SportBand on my wrist, I can get my tunes from a $49 Shuffle and not have to fret (as much) when caught in the rain. Maybe I'll take the money I save and enroll in a half marathon. Ready. Set. GO!

No sooner than posting this, I noticed Uncrate has done the same. If I was on the fence before, now I'm sold.

Looks like a winner that! If only Nike would create a good alternative to Polar HRM's! Polars policies on the mac and HRM data ownership are horrid…

Do you tend to do incorporate any heart based sessions into your training?

I was just talking to one of my buddies about how it would be nice for him not to have to buy another type of iPod just for Nike+ (I still don't think running with and iPod Touch is a great idea). Great find.

Hey Brad,

Actually i was in on this early through some running friends that work with Nike.

And that is a good idea if you do not want to get another nano, and an idea i had was if you still need that "power song" put it first on your play list then hit the play button on your shuffle a couple times and you are taken to your first track which is your "power song"

Just a thought something i do when i run, i like the smallness of the shuffle feels like nothing. Thanks again for the help in NY. I was not able to get to the restaurant but will be up there again later this month and will be hitting it up. Time goes so fast in NYC.

Another option you could consider is getting a refurbished iPod Nano from Apple. You get the same warranty, and the same product – It just costs less, and may not come in the pretty packaging.

Besides, right now you get a free $15 iTunes gift card if you do. Woo!
