Can't you be happy with the 10.5 division leading Red Sox and your Pats who are now just collecting Hall of Fame players. We need to thank the basketball gods that Seattle got the #2 pick. I am far from a Sonics fan but dear lord please give Ray Allen someone to play with. One of the best shooters in the game is decaying in Seattle.

I'm with Nick – we've not seen many good teams, let alone a championship of any kind in years up here in the Pacific Northwest. Cut us a break for crying out loud. Remember the last bid? Superbowl XL? I'll tell you who got hosed – The Seahawks. Just the latest in a long series of hosery.
So, don't much feel sorry for y'all there in Boston.

@Keith – Woah, let's not get carried away here. I didn't say I wanted to see Seattle go winning any championships. I don't even want to get started on Matt Hasselbeck. Did you hear him in the interview after the Romo snap, "I wasn't even watching, I was too tired."
What Seattle needs is some more of that crazy "And 1" enzone football with Tatupu, Peterson, and Jennings.

I'm sorry, DKR. Cry me a river. Does the Pacific Northwest even know what basketball is? And don't talk about getting hosed until your franchise players start dying. Len Bias? Reggie Lewis? Please. You got Polamalu'd. Hosed? I think not.
And, you and I both know, Nick, that the Red Sox will blow it come the 2nd half of the season.

Much better.

Eh, you've still got much more to be excited about in Boston than we do in Cincy. Mayhaps if the Reds get their bullpen outta the crapper and the Bengals keep their player outta jail we'll see brighter days ahead.

@Ryan – I think we know what basketball is, we've just not seen any good pro ball in years. Back in the 90's the Sonics were the best regular season team around. (Who, of course, blew it spectacularly in the playoffs every year.) We have a collective memory problem here in Seattle.
And did you watch Superbowl XL? The hawks got screwed. Plain and simple. Shit Fox Sports ran a show about the 10 worst calls in sports history and Seattle was there for 3 of the 10 bad calls! And this was BEFORE Superbowl XL.
I've got a very, very hard time feeling bad for a sports fan in a city that has multiple, let alone recent, championships. We've not had anything here in Seattle (excepting a bullshit split national title back in 91) since, what, 79? And, no, I'm not counting The Storm's championship.
When I hear fans in Boston, or Chicago, or anywhere with good fans complain I just have to shake my head. You've got no idea what it's like to live in a really unlucky and apathetic sports town. I can't stick up for the fans here. In general they're very fairweather and pretty weak.
Well, except for Seahawks fans I guess, their pretty solid. But anyway.
Shit, you think people in Boston would even consider letting the Celtics leave town? No way! But there are tons of bandwaggon jumpers here who would be happy to see the Sonics go. It's bullshit. So, yeah, we needed that pick to have a chance to get people intersted again. I'm a big basketball fan (it's my fav sport) and as disappointing as they are I don't want the Sonics leaving town…

@DKR – Fair enough. I wasn't really complaining. I know we've got it VERY good here in New England. The Celtics have always been my team. Larry Bird was a god to me growing up. They've had a real shitty 15 year stretch of bad luck. It looked like it was coming to an end. And now, it's not. Plain and simple: they got hosed.

Go Mavs!

Finally, some good luck for the Blazers. That face that Danny Ainge made when he realized he wasn't getting Oden or Durant and just extended Doc for three years….priceless.
Sorry about the Mavs Keegan. You need someone who can score from the low post. Or you could've just resigned Nash and won three titles in a row.

Here's a question guys. Let's say you've got the first pick…who is it? Oden or Durant? or maybe Gerard?
I think it has to be Durant. Don't get me wrong, I really like Oden (and Gerard), but I don't think he's a franchise builder. In fact, a single big man rarely makes much happen without another star (for ex. – Garnett, Shaq, Mr T). I think you have to go for Durant, because he's more athletic and a proven scorer with a better chance of withstanding the long season.

Looks like Portland is getting along fine without Greg Odor. Durant's the real deal – period.
