A little more serif, a lot more slab

Between the gargantuan Black Slabbath (only $39!) and the cheerful Archer—2008 seems to be shaping up as the year of the slab serif.

Disappointed YWFT decided not to name the typeface Black Slabbath.

im rarely a hater but i'm really disappointed that anyone would sell black sabbath. it really is an ugly ugly very poorly designed font. the L is nice but some of those letters are complete jokes (M, N, A, E, R?!) let's get with it! archer however is very nice and professional, C rules.

Liam: To each his own. I still love it. Would I use it for anything other than display type? Probably not.

Loving this current trend! I've always been a huge fan of egyptian typefaces. While I like both fonts, I agree that Black Sabbath's usability scale is significantly smaller than Archer's… I want them!! Now where did I put my mum's credit card?…

Liam — you may think it's ugly; that's a personal preference. But you can't say it's poorly designed. Every ligature, kerning setting, and letterform was well-thought through and designed. You can certainly hate it, just don't say it's poorly designed.

It's a masterfully designed fugly typeface.
